| Finding a Property |
|

|
There are few places where you can you enjoy a great climate, mountains, Mediterranean sea, culture and a multitude of options for exploring beautiful places.

Finding a property is relatively easy, understanding what you want and where, is a little harder. For this we recommend the following to any potential buyer;
- plan a holiday here for at least a couple of weeks. Spend the time to explore a few areas in the preferred region. We thoroughly recommend Piemonte and western Liguria. Piemonte will probably offer the greatest choice at lower prices.
- if after exploring the area you still like the idea of a holiday/retirement home then visit again for a few months and rent a holiday home during your stay. There are many holiday homes available for rent and a few months will certainly leave you with the knowledge and the feeling as to whether such an endeavour is right for you. You can use this time then to view potential properties without haste and increase your understanding of what you like and what you don’t.
- these two steps should be considered as an adventure, a pleasant way to spend some time, with the freedom of mind to walk away from the idea in the end, or to push on. No one can be so sure to make such a life style change and investment simply on a whim.
The Regions - Liguria and Piemonte are most definitely my preferred areas in Europe. Having worked and lived in most western European countries, they offer a great mix of climate and geographic interest. Few places in the civilised world can you enjoy a great climate, mountains, Mediterranean sea, culture, a multitude of options for exploring beautiful places, and close proximity to France, Switzerland, Austria and Croatia... not forgetting the Italian Lakes, Tuscany, the Italian and French Rivieras, and the islands of Sardinia, Corsica and Elba. Summer walking, winter ski... if you like mountains and the sea, it’s perfect. Italy is truly a wonderful country to explore.
Regarding language, you can ‘get by’ fairly well with basic Italian and Italians in general try to help with whatever English they have if they can. |
